Most people don't take care of themselves and the largest organ on their body, causing poor color and advanced aging. A major issue in today's times, skin care needs to be looked at seriously. You need to look at environmental as well as personal practices. Take action now, and you will have great skin for years to come. Knowing your skin type is the first place to start with skin care. For the most part, all skin care types are the same, only taking into account pigmentation. If you are not sure what pigmentation is, it is the color of your skin. When you determine your skin type, there are factors to consider. Ask yourself if you have oily or dry skin. Next, decide on the pigment of your skin. Then decide on the elasticity of your skin. Things to think about when determining the oily or dry skin. Oily skin will feel slick to touch, and be shiny in appearance. Dry skin feels rough and looks dull. You may even see some light scaling. You should know that the oil glands do keep the skin moist, so it is necessary. But too much oil can be a problem, and that excess is what causes problems with acne. What you eat, how hard you work, the condition of your hormones, which medications you take, and your genetics can affect oil production. The role of the coloring of your skin in choosing skin care products has to do how predisposed you are to coloring factors of the skin. Some of the kinds of skin coloring issues you need to think about are sun spots or freckles. These kinds of spots can affect the kind of product you chose for your skin care. Skin sensitivity is all about your skin and it's ability to deal with different kinds of irritations. If you have sensitive skin, it will show by reddening, or becoming infected, or even showing up as acne. Rosacea a condition that does qualify in the skin sensitiviy category. Wrinkles is another of the items to consider when it comes to skin care. Too much sun will have a major effect on skin care and premature aging. Skin care products with regard to wrinkling should have some type of sun screen in them. Many products out on the market now come with some level of skin care protection. When it comes to skin care, all of the factors above come into play. Whether is is the oily skin, or pigmented versus non pigmented, or even how sensitive your skin is. You need to take a look at these factors all together, and not individually. When you are looking at other ways to supplement skin care, nutrition is something to consider. Drinking water is great for skin care, as it helps lubricate and keep skin moist. It helps to get out toxins. Try also drinking herbal teas. The water content, and the herbs can have a good healing effect. For those with special cases like acne, there may be more specific and dramatic actions that need to be taken. When you are dealing with special circumstances, you should visit your doctor and get solid medical advice. They can help you tackle the problem, and get you on a great program for preventative care.
Sun care is essential: It is an integral part of your basic skin care regimen. And sun care is not restricted to any season. As essential as it is in the sunny months of the year, so it is for the winter months. But then again the type of sun care required is different from person to person. The sun care products that you decide to use should cater to specific skin types like normal skin, dry skin, oily skin, combination skin or sensitive skin. Here are some key points that you should consider while selecting your sun care product or sunscreens: Sun Protection Factor The SPF of a sunscreen is the deciding factor of selection. SPF gives an indication about how powerful the sunscreen is. A sunscreen protects you from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun that causes sunburn and also risks a person to skin cancer. Make sure the sunscreen you choose has avobenzone (Parsol-1789), Mexoryl, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide so that you are protected from all the UVA and UVB radiations of the sun. Lasting Time How long the effect of a sunscreen lasts, depends form one product to another. Some sun-care products break down due to prolong exposure to UV light while others continue to fight it longer. Mexoryl, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are some of the ingredients that don’t break down when exposed to the UV rays of sunlight, and thus protects you all day long. Staying power There are certain sun screen agents that cling on to the skin longer than the others. And if you are one of those who do plenty of exercise and running around or have to travel in the sunlight for long, this is a very important factor that you should consider while purchasing sun care products. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are two agents that stay on the skin for longer periods. However some sun care products that contain these two elements tend to look pale on the skin. Therefore, make sure your sunscreen contains "ultramicronized" titanium or zinc. These agents are finer in nature and are transparent to light but still functions appropriately. Types of Sun Care products Sun care products are available in a variety of forms like sunscreen creams, lotions, gels and even sprays. Creams are best suited for smooth and normal skins. These products are usually prepared using water resistant formula so that inspite of all the sweating and swimming you do its stays on to protect your skin. Always consider the cosmetic quality of the sunscreen before you start using it. If you follow a good sun care regimen, you can really slow down the skin’s aging process and even reverse the damage already done.
Prevent Wrinkles:As we age our skin loses essential stores of 2 skin proteins, collagen and elastin, and this results in the gradual formation of skin wrinkles and fine lines on our face, and neck. So for millions of older women the answer to the question of how to prevent wrinkles is very important indeed. This article will provide some general skin care tips that everyone can use, regardless of skin type. Many magazines are partial to certain brands, specifically the brands that pay for ads in their magazines, which is why you should ignore the brand hype and stick with what you know works. For example, many articles advocate over cleansing your skin, when in reality, you should only cleanse your skin before going to bed, since over cleansing leads to dryness and irritation. It is very important to moisturize your skin frequently as well, use a day moisturizer and a night moisturizer, and look for products that contain natural ingredients, like shea butter, jojoba oil, and avocado extract. Natural products are better for the skin, since they do not contain harsh chemicals. It is important to keep your skin hydrated as well, so be sure to apply a deep hydrating mask once a month to your face and neck, as well as a deep cleansing treatment to remove dirt and grime build up in your pores. When it comes to your eyes, choose a gel specifically made for them, preferably one scientifically proven to reduce wrinkles and bags. Make sure that these creams are non comedogenic, particularly if you have sensitive skin. This is a good rule of thumb for all skin care products that you choose, since that way, you will know that the skin care routine you have adopted is helping, not hurting the health of your skin. Be sure to cleanse your skin with water twice a day and with a mild cleanser once a day. You may also want to apply an astringent, just be sure to use an alcohol free product if you have sensitive skin. You should also protect your skin with sunscreen each time that you go outside. Many moisturizers and makeup products have sunscreen included in them, so check the label if you are not sure. Sunscreens not only save your skin from sunburn and harmful cancer causing UV rays, but can also protect your skin from direct contact with pollutants. A few minutes everyday can go a long way towards a lifetime of beautiful, healthy skin, which in the end, is really the goal and is well worth the extra time.

Infertility-Best Ways to get pregnant

Infertility is an extremely common problem affecting more than one in seven couples. It can be a really stressful time trying for a baby but stress itself could reduce your chances of conceiving. In a recent survey three quarters of the men questioned admitted that trying to conceive put adverse pressure on their relationship with their partner. Many people are putting off trying for a family but medical research suggests that the older the woman is the more difficult it could be to conceive. In this interview TV GP, Dr Chris Steele offers his advice on trying for a baby. Do people often worry about getting pregnant? Yes, women are tending to put off their first baby until their career is a bit more established. There's been a recent survey done which shows that nearly 72% of men thought that trying for a baby put pressure on their relationship with their partner. If you've been delaying your first baby and then suddenly you're trying for a baby it's a lot of pressure. Patients often come to my surgery and ask me how they can make sure they're in good health and fitness so fertility won't be affected. Do people take it for granted that they will be able to get pregnant? Diet and lifestyle is vital. The feeding of that developing foetus is paramount and people need to look more closely at nutrition and lifestyle. Women know about folic acid but that's just one. There are many, many other supplements. Do you have a plan for couples to follow when trying to get pregnant? Look at diet. For men, foods that are rich in vitamin C and Zinc because of the beneficial effect on sperm count. For women, your greeny leafy veg for the folic acid but make sure you have a varied diet with your five portions of fruit and veg a day and take a supplement. The timing of intercourse is also very important. You ovulate 14 days before the first day of your next expected period. If you've got a regular 28 day cycle it is 14 days but if you've got a 32 day cycle well then you're ovulating around day 18 not day 14. The thing to do is have intercourse two days before, the day of and the day after. After intercourse the woman should not get up and dash to the loo but stay in bed. The reason for that is to give the sperm a chance to get into the cervix. You should also relax and avoid the bad habits like smoking and alcohol. How long, on average, does it take to fall pregnant? A few years back the advice we gave was keep trying for two years. Now it's down to just one year. If you've still not conceived after this period of time then make an appointment to see your local GP or health advisor.

Parental Care- The High Value of Playing in a Child's development

Many of us remember our childhood fondly. Those days where we had no worries and could just play and play to our hearts content. And we all want those same experiences for our own children, but it seems like sometimes the basics of play get left behind with new technology, and new, passive children's entertainment. There are an endless supply of toys out there, but it seems like some of the classics are being replaced with television and video games. These passive pursuits don't give our kids the same benefits as things like role playing and dress up. With the influx of new toys with bigger and better technology, it's important that the basic elements of "play" don't get lost among them. Toys that call for active uses of the imagination are still very important. And though we may be trying to make our kids geniuses by teaching them a new language or sports, it's important to begin with the basics. After all, you can't learn to read before you learn the alphabet, and it's the same with play. Playing teaches are kids the basics, and helps them grow and learn to be better people. Here's why: 1. We all know that playing a sport is healthy. Organized sports can teach children discipline, competitiveness, and give them an understanding of how team work can benefit everyone. But before they can run, they must learn to walk. They learn the basics of sports through play. This includes such things as running outside, playing hide and seek, or even hopscotch. As a young child I learned to interact with the neighborhood kids with the game of "Ghost" where we chased each other around someone's house as soon as it got dark out. These types of activities are the building blocks for understanding even more about team work and team spirit through organized sports. 2. Play also helps develop a child's creativity and imagination as they create their own universe. This can have many benefits, including allowing them to explore their own interests (and potential career paths). For example, they could play "school" and be the teacher, or they could use their stuffed lions and tigers to help them pretend to be a researching studying the jungle. Or they could even pretend to be Snow White talking to all the enchanted forest animals. Creating these scenarios allows them to tell their own stories and develop their brains, certainly a much more active pursuit then merely having stories told to them through television or video games. And of course, these made up games also tend to be much less violent then what's on the television. 3.Play is also educational, and as has been previously touched on a little, can also build social skills. For example, it's educational because a child playing with a stuffed tiger is learning about the real animal's habitat, diet, and characteristics. And social skills can be developed when children play these imaginative games together. They have to learn how to agree on what they are playing, teaching them the art of compromise, and how to create an imaginative world that they can all share. They learn that it's important to depend on others. For example, when it comes to jumping rope, two kids have to hold the rope before another can jump. We cannot underestimate the importance of play to our children's development. Play is healthy, and contains the building blocks of socialization they will need to function in the real world. Remember, it's never "just a play". As they play the children are developing their creativity and sociability. We should certainly encourage are children to engage in more active play. One way to do this is join in on the play, you could pretend to be the student in their classroom, or be the mighty king in the emerald castle. Be a part of their development, and help them create wonderful memories. After all, the fun of play is what makes us all look back on our childhood with fondness.

Breast milk- Benefits for babies

Breast milk is nature's perfect food, and when a baby is exclusively breastfed there are advantages to both the little one and his mother. Maternal Bonding Breastfeeding is a natural process that allows mother and baby to spend ample amounts of time together in a skin-to-skin setting. This has shown to reduce the stress level in infants and to promote a closer relationship between mother and child. Perfectly Balanced Nutrition The best benefit of all for baby is that breast milk is the body's perfect form of nutrition. It is perfectly balanced and easy to digest so long as the mother hasn't eaten something that would disagree with baby, such as extremely spicy food. Breast milk is not consistent throughout the way compare to formula in a bottle. Breast milk starts off as a thin watery substance to sate baby's appetite immediately. This is followed by the bulk of the meal which is in a medium consistency. Finally, the hindmilk is released which is much like cream. This milk is rich in nutrients and is extremely soothing to baby - It is one of the reasons babies fall asleep while feeding. Reduced Risk of Allergies and Illness Antibodies and other aspects of the mother's immune system are transferred through the milk to the baby to a certain degree while breastfeeding. This helps baby ward off more of the common illnesses and complaints. Breastfeeding also helps baby's fragile digestive system develop at the proper pace preventing the onslaught of allergies and food sensitivities that might stem from milk-based formula's harsher proteins. Breastfeeding Reduces the Risk of Obesity Recent studies have shown that breastfed babies have a reduced risk of becoming obese. The cause is speculated to be the style of feeding rather than the actual diet of the babies. Babies crave sucking for comfort and while nursing, the baby can suck to a degree for comfort and not actually feed at the same time. A bottle-fed baby might be offered a bottle every time he cries, which he gladly takes for its soothing principles. With a bottle, however, there is no degree of sucking and every bottle provides food which can create a comfort and food association over time. When You Shouldn't Breastfeed There are numerous advantages to breastfeeding, but there are circumstances when breastfeeding is not an option or potentially dangerous. Any toxins or diseases you have can pass to your baby through breast milk. If you are taking prescribed medication, it might not be safe for breastfeeding and you should never breastfeed without clearing each prescription with your doctor. This is true for many over-the-counter medications as well. Communicable diseases can be passed through breast milk. In fact, a sizeable portion of the world's babies infected with HIV were born HIV-free, but contracted the disease later from their infected mothers. Diseases and medications aren't the only things passed through your breast milk. Caffeine and alcohol can be passed as well, so many breastfeeding expert recommend pumping and dumping a feeding after imbibing in alcohol and to keep caffeinated beverages and alcohol to a minimum.
